Submitting final grades in Canvas is the easiest and most accurate way to submit final grades for classes. Just click on “Submit Grades to Registrar” in your Canvas course to go to the Final Grades page.
Once you’ve entered all of your grades, just click “Submit” at the bottom of the page.
A few things to note:
- Once you’ve submitted your grades, you’ll see the Final Grade listed and the tick box in the “Submitted” column will be checked.
- If you enter a grade that is not valid, Canvas will not submit the grade and will tell you of the error immediately upon clicking “Submit”:
- Canvas’ grade checking process eliminates the need for an automated email confirming grade submissions. Faculty will no longer receive that email.
- Within 24 hours of grade submission, grades will be visible.
- Students who have dropped a course will show on this page as Inactive. There is no need to grade students who show as Inactive.
- Canvas works with the Microsoft Edge and Firefox browsers. If you are having trouble submitting grades, make sure you are working in Edge or Firefox.
What if I have trouble entering final grades in Canvas?
There may be rare occasions when, due to browser compatibility issues or some other glitch, submitting grades through Canvas isn’t working. When that happens, faculty may use this alternative method to submit final grades through the Self Service environment.
- Access self service by going to Faculty – Vermont State Colleges Self-Service (vsc.edu). You will need to log in using your VSCS credentials.
- Choose the course you wish to grade from the courses listed (email registrar@ccv.edu if your course doesn’t appear):
- Choose the “Grading” tab from the list of tabs (you may see fewer tabs than displayed):
- Enter Final Grades as appropriate.
Note: Inactive students (such as students who have dropped or withdrawn) should not appear on your Self Service grade roster.
